The victim was pushed onto the tracks as a northbound 4 train was entering the East 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station in East Harlem just before 7 p.m., police sources said.

"McPherson has a prior assault arrest from October 2023, sources told The Post. He was freed on bond and is due back in court in July."
That leaves plenty of time to shove a lot more people onto the tracks.
Let me channel my inner Anne Coulter... The victim must be white because the media/govt has clammed up about who he was and there's no video of the incident even though we KNOW they record everything that happens down there.

I work with autistic school-children, occasionally, in my job. I had wondered what becomes to some of the really serious cases when they reach adulthood. Now, it seems I have my answer. Zero impulse control.

You know who did it when they don't describe the perp. Or use vague terms like, "youths," "roving teenagers," "New York man," etc. When a white guy is the perp they announce it unequivocally and in no time flat.

The mentally ill perp will be released on no bond before the body is cold to dissappear into the bowels of NYC to wreak havoc again. He will be unaccountable for his actions due to his "illness".

If you are thinking of riding the subway in new York do not stand close to the edge of the platform.
Stay in the background until the train pulls in. Sure: You might miss your train , but it's better to miss the train than to end up under it.

The obvious defense would be to stand well back from the tracks but everybody rushes for the front of the herd when a train approaches. If NYC refuses to detain lunatics they could at least install some automatic trackside doors that only open after the train stops.

It used to be that people that were a danger to themselves and others were institutionalized to protect themselves and the general populace. Now, they run free causing chaos...

The New York Post is as limp as the New York Times. They won't call it murder. They call everything "tragic."

Can’t they install railings along the tracks?

Our justice system seems so inefficient, unfair and often corrupt. Without knowing the circumstances of the event, the “disturbed person” will likely be counseled, pampered and supported endlessly by the army of people who support themselves through this system.

How about setting them up like the Tokyo Metro or Hong Kong MTR. There is a glass wall that separates riders from the tracks with doors that open to allow passengers to exit and enter. No open access to the tracks. If you have ever been in the subway systems of Asian countries you would see this as a very prudent safety measure.

When we travel in any large cities with subways, which is pretty much every year when traveling in Europe, although never in NYC, we have decided long ago to stay far back from the edge, preferably against a wall, so no stranger can be behind you, until the train is in place and stopped, THEN move to the cars.
Frankly, I don't like to give every random person in public the ability to end my life with a shove.

One thing is for sure, the violent criminal and “nut job” minorities of the African-American population throughout the USA are giving the African-American population in general an unbelievably terrible reputation around the world, gleaned by foreign people from information they receive from the international media. A while back I was watching a video where a reporter was stopping random people on the streets in a number of foreign countries asking what they thought of Americans? Without exception the answers they received were that African-Americans in the USA were very bad and violent people who do not obey the law.
